What services do you offer?

Our services are designed to assist our clients with everyday tasks and are custom tailored to meet their individual needs. Services can include; light housekeeping, running errands, assistance with medications, showering, laundry, companionship and much more! Please visit our services page for a more complete list.

How do I get started?

When you call Iowa Family Assistants, our care coordinators will answer any questions you have. We will then schedule a free consultation to assess you or your loved one’s needs. Once the assessment is done, a personalized care plan is created. Please contact us to set up an appointment to discuss your needs. We’re available to talk with you on the phone, in our office, at the hospital or your home–whichever is most convenient for you.

Do you have a minimum level of service?

Our minimum is two hours per shift.

How does my service begin?

We begin by scheduling a free in-home consultation to develop a plan of care. Next, we carefully select a caregiver that is uniquely qualified to help meet your specific needs. We then work out your schedule preferences and schedule the appointments, it’s that simple!

How do you select your Caregivers?

We work hard to match the right Caregiver to meet the clients individual needs and personality. We are committed to choosing compassionate Caregivers that we would trust to care for our own family and loved ones. We choose caregivers who are qualified, reliable, kind, and who genuinely enjoy helping others. We place great value on honesty and strong personal character. Each potential Caregiver must pass a criminal background check, drug test, and our personal internal screening process before we even consider them as a candidate.

Will I have a choice in who comes to my home?

Yes. Our experienced staffing coordinators will make an informed decision regarding Caregivers who have the personality, skills and availability to best help you. If at any time or for any reason you are not completely satisfied with a Caregiver we will gladly make the necessary changes.

Will you send the same caregiver every day?

Our intent is to find a caregiver who will establish a warm and respectful ongoing relationship with you. Once we have you set up on a regular schedule, you should have the same caregiver every visit. We can’t guarantee it, however. Caregivers do go on vacation and occasionally have unforeseen circumstances. If, for any reason, your regular caregiver cannot fill an assigned shift, we will send a substitute. Making sure that a qualified caregiver is at your door when promised is our commitment to you. We could not operate any other way.

How do I pay for services?

Invoices are sent twice each month by mail. Payment should be returned to our office by mail or in person within 7 days. Caregivers are not authorized to collect payment for services or any form of compensation from you (including tips, gifts, etc.). We accept checks or money orders. We don’t currently accept credit cards but if that is your only payment option, please contact our office and we will try to accommodate you. If you are on an Iowa Medicaid Waiver program, we will bill Medicaid directly, and you will not receive a bill from us.

Will insurance pay for your services?

Insurance Policies vary so much that we cannot say for certain which companies will cover our services. However, most Long Term Care policies do cover our services.

What are your rates?

Each client will receive an in-home consultation from a Care Coordinator who will develop a personalized plan of care. Hourly rates for caregivers vary depending on the level of care needed and the hours of care needed. We strive to offer competitive rates without compromising quality of care. For a customized quote based on individual needs, please contact our office.

What if I need help and the office is closed?

We have someone available 24 hours a day, every day of the week. We know situations don’t always arise during normal working hours. We purpose to accommodate your needs every day and any hour–with or without advanced notice. If you are calling after office hours, and do not get an answer, please leave a message. We check messages frequently after hours and will return your call as soon as possible.
